GSIS pays P41M insurance to PAGASA for weather forecasting equipment damaged by typhoon

The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) turned over P41 million in check to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) as payment for the latter’s insurance claim on its damaged Doppler Weather Surveillance equipment. The turnover ceremony was held last June 14 at the DOST-PAGASA office in Quezon City. The weather forecasting equipment stationed at the Basco Weather Radar Station in Batanes was severely damaged by Typhoon Ferdie in Batanes. GSIS to use eCard in paying claims starting Oct. 14

Date Posted: October 11, 2013 Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) President and General Manager Robert G. Vergara announced that starting October 14, GSIS benefits such as retirement, life insurance, survivorship and pre-need claims will be e-credited by GSIS in the members’ eCard or UMID card instead of releasing the benefits through checks.
