  1. Why is the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) sending members’ credit data to Credit Information Corporation (CIC)?

    The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) is required to submit the Basic Credit Data of all its members to the Credit Information Corporation (CIC), an Office created under Republic Act (R.A.) No. 9510, also known as the Credit Information System Act.

    The CIC is responsible for establishing a credible and centralized credit information system in the country.

    The Basic Credit Data of GSIS members is submitted to CIC on a monthly basis, pursuant to R.A. No. 9510 and its Implementing Rules and Regulations, and may be shared with other lenders authorized by the CIC, including other credit reporting agencies duly accredited by the CIC, for the purpose of establishing the borrower’s credit worthiness.

  2. Will my credit information be shared with other credit institution without my authorization?

    No, CIC will also not share your credit information with other credit institutions without your authorization.

  3. What is the effect of data submission to CIC?

    Credit institutions including banks, credit and financial institutions will be able to get the borrowers’ credit information from CIC (with the borrower’s approval) when they apply for a loan or insurance.

  4. When will GSIS start submitting the credit data of GSIS members to CIC?

    GSIS will submit the basic credit data of all GSIS members, pursuant to R.A. No. 9510, starting this year.

  5. Are borrowers in GSIS loan programs informed of the submission of their credit data to CIC?

    Yes. All GSIS loan application forms duly signed by borrowers include a statement that the borrowers are acknowledging and giving their consent on the following: 1) the regular submission and disclosure of the borrowers basic credit data and updates thereon to the Credit Information Corporation (CIC); and 2) the sharing of the borrower’s basic credit data with lenders authorized by the CIC, and credit reporting agencies and outsourced entities duly accredited by the CIC, subject to the provisions of R.A. No. 9510, its IRR and other relevant laws and regulations.

  6. Who else were notified by the GSIS regarding submission of credit data to CIC?

    All member borrowers with credit data/history in GSIS’s records have been notified through email of GSIS’s submission of basic credit data to CIC.
