GSIS, Mayor Isko, meet to settle CGO Manila’s Php230M unpaid premiums

Date Posted: August 1, 2019

Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso has agreed to the proposal of State pension fund Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) to create a task force that will immediately resolve the outstanding premium liabilities of the City Government of Manila (CGO Manila), which has so far reached Php230 million.

This was an offshoot of the Mayor’s meeting with GSIS’ key officials on July 22.

“We owe it to our employees to speed up the reconciliation of their GSIS premium records, so that they will enjoy an array of GSIS loan privileges and benefits they deserve as government employees,” Mayor Domagoso said.

For his part, GSIS Chairman and concurrent Officer in Charge Rolando Ledesma Macasaet said “we welcome the full cooperation of the good Mayor. It is crucial to update and reconcile the records of some 9,000 affected CGO Manila employees to ensure they will receive the correct level of benefits upon their retirement or when they apply for a loan.”

The unpaid obligations of CGO Manila stemmed from the discrepancies in the records of social insurance contributions of their employees, which were remitted from 2012 to 2019. The computed obligations also included interest charges that had to be imposed for delays and non-remittances as required by law.

“We have high hopes that the seamless coordination between GSIS and CGO Manila will finally resolve this long-standing problem for the mutual benefit of both parties,” Macasaet said.
