GSIS extends APIR to 15 May 2020
Date Posted: March 13, 2020

GSIS has extended the deadline for APIR to 15 May 2020, for all old-age and survivorship pensioners born in March, in light of the COVID-19 spread.

APIR, which stands for “Annual Pensioners’ Information Revalidation,” requires all old-age and survivorship pensioners to personally appear before GSIS offices during their birth months as a prerequisite to continue receiving their pensions. The APIR program was instituted by GSIS as its monitoring mechanism to prevent pension over-payments.

“Old-age and survivorship pensioners born this March need not go to GSIS branches to renew their active status for the time being. We advise them to postpone visiting our branches. They can do their APIR at a later date through our GWAPS kiosks located in large government offices, provincial capitols, city and municipal offices, selected SM and Robinsons malls and GSIS branch offices. Anyway, they have until 15 May 2020 to do their APIR.” This was the statement made by Rolando Ledesma Macasaet, President and General Manager of the state pension fund GSIS.

An advisory from the World Health Organization (WHO) website states that elderly people and people with pre-existing medical conditions are the ones most vulnerable/highly susceptible to the COVID-19 virus.

“We are closely monitoring the situation and will be issuing further advisories as developments unfold. But for now, I would like to assure our pensioners that their safety and well-being is our primordial concern,” Macasaet added.

For inquiries, members and pensioners can call the GSIS hotline at 88474747.
