Pasig City Stakeholders’meeting

Date Posted: March 10, 2015
GSIS Dialogue in Pasig. President and General Manager Robert G. Vergara clarifies a member’s concern during the first ever dialogue held in Pasig City on Friday, the first to be conducted in the National Capital Region. With more than a thousand attendees representing the Department of Education and other regional offices and local government units of Pasig, Pateros, Taguig, Marikina and the province of Rizal, the dialogue was the biggest thus far. GSIS chose Pasig for its maiden NCR dialogue given the location of the Department of Education-Central Office with more than 78,000 GSIS active members accounting for 73% of the total membership of 122,469 covered by the Pasig Extension Office. Vergara updated the attendees on the reforms implemented by the pension fund to provide responsive service to its 1.8 million members and pensioners. These include the non-suspension of loan privileges of employees working in suspended agencies, the restoration of survivorship pension, the option to change retirement date and mode, the enhancement on loan programs, the partnership with the LANDBANK (as additional servicing bank), the Home Development Mutual Fund (as conduit lender for housing and the National Museum (as manager of GSIS art works), and the increased service access points such as GWAPs kiosks, contact center, and service desks in far-flung areas. The dialogue forms part of the pension fund’s effort to engage with and reach out to its members and pensioners in line with the goal of transparency.
