Officers in GSIS’s partner-agencies get free insurance cover

Date Posted: May 25, 2018
Agency authorized officers (AAOs), electronic remittance file (ERF) handlers, and liaison officers (LOs) enjoy free insurance coverage under the Group Personal Accident Insurance (GPAI) of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS).

More than 18,000 AAOs, ERF handlers, and LOs in government agencies across the country who assist their officemates in their GSIS transactions are automatically insured against such perils as dismemberment, permanent total disability, and even accidental death.

GPAI benefits for AAOs and ERF handlers include Php500,000 in indemnity for accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) or permanent total disability (PTD); up to Php100,000 in medical reimbursement (MR); and Php10,000 in bereavement assistance to family members.

LOs are entitled to Php100,000 in AD&D or PTD benefits; Php10,000in MR; and Php10,000 in bereavement assistance.

GSIS President and General Manager Jesus Clint O. Aranas recognizes the important role that AAOs, ERF handlers, and LOs play for the pension fund.

“They have been our indispensable partner over the years. As they carry out their functions responsibly, GSIS members are assured that they get the right amount of social security benefits when they fall due,” Aranas said.

The PA insurance coverage is renewed annually. It remains in force within the policy year until agencies have notified GSIS that concerned AAOs, ERF handlers, and LOs have been separated or retired from the service, have transferred to another agency, or have been suspended due to non-performance of duties or reported fraudulent acts.
