Members and pensioners of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) in La Union need no longer go to a GSIS office to apply for a loan, view records, activate the UMID-compliant eCard or in the case of pensioners, renew their active status.

Today, GSIS members and pensioners in La Union can save time and money, not to mention conveniently transact with the pension fund, after it installed an additional GSIS Wireless Automated Processing System (GW@PS) kiosk in the provincial capitol on Friday.

GSIS President and General Manager Robert G. Vergara and Chairman Daniel L. Lacson, Jr. led the unveiling of the kiosk at the provincial capitol with Vice Governor Aureo Q. Nisce and Board Member Francisco C. Ortega, Jr. witnessing the event.

The pension fund also deployed a kiosk in the city hall of Baguio with Mayor Mauricio Domogan on the same day.

In Metro Manila and nearby provinces, the GSIS started deploying additional kiosks in 32 government offices which include the Office of the President, the Senate, House of Representatives, and the Supreme Court.

Kiosks will likewise be installed in the main offices of the Department of Education, Commission on Audit, Commission on Elections, Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Justice, Land Registration Authority, Land Bank of the Philippines, National Bureau of Investigation, Office of the President, Office of the Court Administrator, Philippine General Hospital, and the Philippine National Police.

Included further in the first batch of the rollout are the provincial capitols of Bulacan, Laguna, and Rizal as well as the University of the Philippines-Diliman and the DepEd division offices in Manila, Quezon City, Bulacan, Cavite, and Rizal.

The additional kiosks are now UMID-compliant in line with the release of the UMID-compliant eCard, which replaces the eCard Plus. Members and pensioners with the UMID-compliant eCard can only transact with UMID-compliant GW@PS kiosks.

The GSIS said it will install a total of 500 new GW@PS kiosks this year, bringing to 749, the total number of kiosks deployed all over the country.

The deployment of more GW@PS kiosks is a priority program of the new GSIS leadership to bring the pension funds services closer to its more than 1.7 million members and pensioners.
