FAQs on Additional Services by LandBank of the Philippines:

QUESTION

REPLY

1. Bakit kailangan magtransfer pa sa Landbank e maayos naman ang transaction ko sa Union Bank of the Philippines (UBP)?

Why is there a need to transfer to LandBank when my transaction with UBP is ok?

The transfer of your pension account to LBP is not mandatory/compulsory. The GSIS Management in its desire to extend its services has tapped the LBP to provide additional servicing bank to the GSIS pensioners. The pensioner has the option to choose between LBP and UBP as his servicing bank.

How about my eCARD? Will it be deactivated? Does it mean that I have to keep 2 ATM cards? What will be credited to my GSIS eCARD and to my LBP ATM card?

No, your GSIS eCard will not be deactivated if you decide to transfer to LBP. Even your account in UBP will not be closed. You can still use your UBP account as your personal savings account. Your GSIS eCard will still be used for the Annual Renewal of your Active Status (ARAS). On the other hand, the LBP ATM card will be used to withdraw your monthly pension.

Is it possible that I maintain my account with UBP? I am already old and I find it hard to memorize many numbers for my PIN code.

The transfer of your pension account to LBP is not mandatory/compulsory. The GSIS Management in its desire to extend its services has tapped the LBP to provide additional servicing bank to the GSIS pensioners. The pensioner has the option to choose between LBP and UBP as his servicing bank.

If ever I chose LBP to be my servicing bank, will there be a maintaining balance and how much?

There is no maintaining balance required if you choose LBP to be your servicing bank.

Please explain the advantages of this new ATM card.

LBP has the most extensive branch network in the banking industry with branches in all of the country’s 80 provinces. In addition, LBP has one of the widest ATM networks nationwide wherein the pensioner can transact at no cost.

Do I have to enroll again in the eCARD so that I can withdraw with LBP?

No. The GSIS eCard will be retained since the card will be used for the renewal of your active status as pensioner of the GSIS. On the other hand, the ATM card that will be issued by LBP will be used for the payment/withdrawal of your monthly pension

Will the GSIS be putting-up kiosks in LBP branches so that I can do my ARAS there?

GSIS will study the feasibility of putting-up of kiosks in LBP branches. However, the GSIS in its desire to improve its services to its members and pensioners has decided to deploy additional kiosks in your municipality and this will start on the first quarter of 2011.

Do I need to go to LBP to be able to transfer my account? Can this be done automatically?

Yes. You have to visit the LBP branch as indicated in the letter you received from GSIS/LBP to be able to get your ATM card/PIN mailer and fill-out the necessary forms in order to activate your account with LBP.

I am bedridden but I want to transfer my account to LBP, what will I do?

You can request LBP for Home Visitation and a personnel of LBP will deliver the card to your home.

Why is it that the GSIS will again change its servicing bank?

The GSIS Management in its desire to extend its services has tapped the LBP to provide additional servicing bank to the GSIS pensioners. The pensioner has the option to choose between LBP and UBP as his servicing bank.

Can my son/daughter, niece/nephew or caregiver apply for me in my behalf?

No, it is against the policy of the GSIS and LBP to enroll or release the card to the beneficiaries/ relatives of the pensioner. The pensioner should request for home visitation with either the GSIS or LBP in order for the GSIS to enroll him in the UMID if necessary or to LBP in order to release his ATM card.

Do I have to change my PIN number if I transfer to LBP?

Opo.

Yes. The new LBP ATM card comes with a PIN mailer which contains your PIN number. After you have encoded the PIN number indicated in the PIN mailer, you have an option to change your PIN number.

How long will it take to receive my new ATM?

Your ATM card is ready for pick-up in the LBP branch as indicated in the letter. You can visit the LBP branch anytime

Will I get my pension earlier once I transfer to LBP?

The policy of the GSIS in the ecrediting of pension payment will not change. The ecrediting of your pension payment will still be on the 8th of the month.

I prefer LBP over UBP, what will happen to my eCard in case I choose LBP?

The eCARD will still be used to renew your active status as GSIS pensioner.

Can I use my existing LBP account for my pension or do I need to open a new account?

LBP will automatically open a new account for you where your monthly pension will be credited. This means that your existing LBP account will not be used to credit the payment for your pension.

Do I need to go to LBP to open a new pension account even though I have existing records with the GSIS?

The new account is automatically opened by LBP, but you still have to go to LBP branch to get your ATM card as indicated in the letter you received. However, if you are sick or bedridden, you may request LBP for a home visit and they will release the card to you.

If there is a need to go to LBP or GSIS for the opening of my LBP account for crediting of my pension, can I authorize my son/daughter, nephew/nieces, grandson/granddaughter because I am old and sick and I find it hard to travel.

LBP will automatically open a new account for you where your monthly pension will be credited but you are still required to go to the LBP branch as indicated in the letter be able to get your ATM card/PIN mailer and fill-out the necessary forms in order to activate your account with LBP. However, for pensioners who are sick or bedridden, they may request LBP for a home visit and they will release the card to you.

Is it possible for us pensioners to transact via ”on-line” with LBP?

Yes, you may view or inquire your account “on-line” provided you register to LBP’s “on-line” facility.

Under the MOU, LBP will create a savings account and provide automated teller machine services to GSIS pensioners.

21. What are the benefits of having LBP as an alternate depository bank?

By having an alternate depository bank, pensioners will be able to take advantage of LBP’s extensive branch network nationwide, especially in the island provinces.

22. How will this arrangement be executed?

The GSIS will pilot test the selection of LBP as an alternate depository bank this December to 13,942 old-age and survivorship pensioners covered by the GSIS Batangas Regional Office and other GSIS servicing offices under its jurisdiction such as the Lucena Branch Office, and its Satellite Offices in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro; Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro; and Boac, Marinduque. The inclusion of pensioners in other areas and members as a whole in this program will commence after the pilot test phase.

23. How can GSIS pensioners get their LBP ATM cards?

Pensioners will have to pick up the LBP ATM cards from the designated LBP branch. On the other hand, the LBP ATM cards of non-ambulatory pensioners will be delivered by LBP personnel.

24. What can the LBP ATM card provide them?

They can use their LBP ATM card to withdraw their monthly or accrued pension benefits as well as pension loan proceeds from the nearest LBP ATM.

25. What are the options for GSIS pensioners who do not choose to avail of LBP’s services?

Those who will not choose to open a savings account with LBP or use its ATM can still choose to retain their existing savings account with Union Bank of the Philippines and use the GSIS eCard to withdraw the same from the nearest Union Bank ATM, or any ATM under the Megalink, Bancnet and Expressnet network.

26. What are the other things that pensioners need to remember?

Regardless of whether they choose LBP or Union Bank, however, pensioners must still keep their GSIS eCard (eCard Plus or the Unified Multipurpose ID or UMID-compliant eCard), as the GSIS eCard still retains its full features as an official GSIS ID, transactional card, debit card, as well as a hospitalization, medicinal, education, and sea-transport discount card.
