GSIS renews agreement with National Museum to manage art collection

Date Posted: February 26, 2018

The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) renewed its partnership with the National Museum of the Philippines after signing on Friday, a memorandum of agreement that will manage its art collection for three more years, from 2018 to 2021. This developed after the five-year (2012-2017) earlier agreement of the two institutions ended last October 2017. Under the agreement, the National Museum will continue to manage, preserve, maintain, secure, promote, and display for public viewing the 91 artworks of Filipino masters owned by GSIS.

Among the artworks entrusted to the National Museum are the famous Parisian Life of Juan Luna and the masterpieces of National Artists Fernando C. Amorsolo, Carlos “Botong” Francisco, Vicente S. Manansala, Hernando R. Ocampo, Ang Kiukok, Bencab, and Federico Aguilar y Alcuaz.

“GSIS once again thanks the board and management of the National Museum for providing a home to our art collection for another three years that will allow the wider public to continue viewing and enjoying them,” GSIS President and General Manager (PGM) Jesus Clint Aranas said.

Signing the agreement are from left, GSIS Vice President for Corporate Communications Margie Jorillo, PGM Aranas, National Museum (NM) Director Jeremy Barns, and NM Assistant Director Ana Labrador.
