Date Posted: March 28, 2014

The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) is offering a P20,000 emergency loan to GSIS members working or residing in Gingoog City until 16 April 2014 to aid in their recovery after typhoon Agaton wrought destruction in this eastern part of Misamis Oriental.

“We earmarked a budget of P22 million for the program to assist more than a thousand members affected by Typhoon Agaton in Gingoog,” GSIS President and General Manager Robert G. Vergara said.

Members who are not on leave of absence without pay; has no pending criminal or administrative charges; have no arrears in the payment of mandatory monthly contributions; and have no loans that are declared in default are eligible to apply.

Members with outstanding emergency loans may renew their loan provided they have paid at least 12 monthly installments and filed it not earlier than the anniversary date of the previous loan.

Payment will be in 36 equal monthly installments at 6% per annum which will only start three months after the loan was granted.

Interested applicants are advised to first secure tentative computation of their loan from any GSIS branch office or via the GSIS Wireless Automated Processing System (GW@PS) kiosk prior to submitting their applications. Filing may also be done through any of the said modes. Application forms may be downloaded here.

Previously, emergency loans were also extended to members in Agusan Del Norte; Agusan Del Sur; Lanao Del Norte; Surigao Del Norte; Kalong, Carmen, Asuncion, New Corella and Tagum City in Davao Del Norte who were also affected by typhoon Agaton.
