GSIS launches 2018 art tilt

Date Posted: February 28, 2018

State pension fund Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) launched on Friday its 2018 Art Competition, which is now regarded as one of the biggest and most anticipated visual art competitions in the country.

“The GSIS Art Competition is one of our core events under our corporate social responsibility program. On its 14th year, the annual contest will showcase once again the creativity of local and emerging artists from which our future art masters may arise,” GSIS President and General Manager Jesus Clint O. Aranas said.

This year, the theme of the competition is open to avoid restricting the artistry and imagination of participating artists. Filipino artists who are at least 18 years old may submit one entry in each of the following categories: representational, nonrepresentational (abstract), and sculpture.

No joining fee is required.

Cash prizes of Php300,000, Php200,000, and Php100,000 await the top three winners in the representational and nonrepresentational categories. In the sculpture category, the first, second, and third place winners will receive Php200,000, Php150,000, and Php100,000, respectively.

All categories will have five honorable mentions who will each receive Php30,000.

Official entry forms and competition guidelines may be downloaded from the GSIS website, www.gsis.gov.ph, or obtained from the GSIS Head Office starting February 23. They will also be available in all GSIS branch offices across the country by March 9.

Entries must be submitted on April 21 (Saturday), from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, to the GSIS Head Office, Financial Center, Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City.

Interested artists who have other inquiries may call the GSIS Museo ng Sining at (02) 859-0395; (02) 479-3588; or 09151351752.

Last year, the competition drew a total of 1,084 entries – the highest turnout since its launch in 2004.
