To facilitate processing of retirement claims, benefits
State pension fund Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has distributed statement of loan accounts (SOLAs) to 13,447 members aged 59 years old and above through three branch offices in Visayas and four in Mindanao.
The distribution is part of piloting the GSIS’s SOLA Project in Dumaguete (Negros Oriental) and Maasin (Southern Leyte) in Visayas. In Mindanao, the pilot areas are Cotabato, Davao, and Tagum (Davao del Norte). Early last year, it was also piloted in Bacolod (Negros Occidental) in Visayas and General Santos in Mindanao.
SOLA Project seeks to help active members aged 59 years old and above to update their various loan accounts and other accountabilities with GSIS, especially before they retire, by providing them their latest SOLAs. Distributed SOLAs will enable both the GSIS and members to reconcile loan records and facilitate the processing of retirement claims and other benefits.
Prior to the VisMin pilot, the project had its first test-run in the National Capital Region offices of the Department of Health and the Department of Social Welfare and Development in 2013. The subsequent full-blast implementation of the project via a nationwide launch will depend on the outcome and members’ reception in pilot areas.
GSIS also hopes to launch this year another innovative information technology project dubbed Electronic GSIS Members’ Online (eGSIS MO), a Web-based system that will enable members to electronically view their membership profile, premium payment, status of loan application, loan repayment and balances, and service record.
